Prior to installations, the floor must be reasonably level and in sound condition. There are three methods for installing carpet in commercial situations.
Stretch Laying
This technique should only be used in small areas with low traffic flows, or where the pattern match requirements give precedence over durability. An approved underlay should be used in this case.
Tackless carpet gripper (smooth edge) should be used to secure the carpet to the floor at the walls.
A power stretcher MUST be used to create adequate tension and ensure that rucking (buckling) will not take place. Stretching is to be assisted by the use of a knee-kicker.
Seams (joins) in the carpet should be made with the use of a premium heat bonded tape.
Double Stick
In this technique, which is recommended for most commercial applications, the underlay is first stuck to the floor and then the carpet is stuck to the underlay using approved adhesives.
Direct Stick
In this technique; which is most suitable for the heaviest traffic areas, especially where extensive use of wheeled traffic and roller castor chairs is expected, the carpet is stuck directly to the floor using approved adhesives.
