Carpet recycling
Cavalier Bremworth actively supports the use of waste exchange
and recycling programmes for used residential carpet.
In 2012, Cavalier Bremworth launched a world-first by producing
a new carpet backing made from recycled wool carpet in its
entirety.
Production of Flashbac recycled carpet backing diverts
more than 1200 tonnes of waste carpet away from landfill a year and
this is expected to grow as the scheme expands, and as exports of
the Flashbac backing develop.

For commercial carpets, the company operates a Product
Stewardship Scheme, ensuring that wool broadloom carpet
uplifted from clients is not incinerated or sent to landfill, but
is used productively as a recycled product.
The company offers an 'end-of-life' take-back for Cavalier
Bremworth carpet bought for commercial projects but additionally
will take back wool carpet where the company has won the job
to replace the flooring (and the uplfited flooring is a recyclable
100% wool product). Carpet returned to Cavalier
Bremworth is recycled into weed-matting at the end of its life and
we give a complete assurance that returned carpet is never sent to
landfill or incinerated.
Over the past two years Cavalier Bremworth has gifted more than
30,000 weed mats made from uplifted carpet to schools and councils
for revegetation, landscape and garden projects. It provides
excellent soil nutrients and trials have demonstrated great results
in promoting plant growth.
